Originally opened in 1962 as Ben Frank’s, this classic Googie-style diner at 8585 W. Sunset Boulevard is now home to Mel’s Drive-In, a beloved slice of Americana in the heart of West Hollywood. Mel’s has made its mark not only on Sunset Strip but also on the silver screen—appearing in iconic films like George Lucas’ American Graffiti (1973), Guess Who’s Coming to Dinner (1967), and the hit TV series Melrose Place, among others. A nostalgic hotspot with Hollywood roots, it remains a favorite for locals, tourists, and film buffs alike.
