This is the ORIGINAL FIRST PRINTING of this poster. Micro script trade mark for Levis on the top right border. Very few sets of artist signed posters were distributed. Hand signed in pencil lower left. Illegible signature and no published name available from auctions. The known artist who created the posters for Levis for the 1980 Olympics are: Nicolas Sidjakov, Bryan Honkawa, Michael Manwaring, M. Schwab, Michael Gibson One of a series of six posters commissioned by the blue jeans manufacturer Levi's as official sponsors of the US team for the 1980 Olympic Games. Each poster emphasized the sport associated with one of the six continents. With only a trial run of each poster printed and these never distributed, the images have always been extremely rare. When the US pulled out of the Moscow event to protest the Soviet Union’s invasion of Afghanistan, Levi’s abandoned the promotion. This is an Original Lithograph Vintage Poster; it is not a reproduction. This poster is very good condition. Part of a series of six posters that was produced by Levi-Strauss, the San Francisco blue-jeans manufacturer, to support a 1979 promotion titled “Levi’s Olympic Opportunity Sweepstakes.” When the US pulled out of the Moscow event to protest the Soviet Union’s invasion of Afghanistan, Levi’s abandoned the promotion.
