Additional Information: Original: Henry Stull is generally thought of as one of two major nineteenth-century painters of thoroughbred racehorses in America. This is an extraordinary high quality chromolithograph of Foxall the race horse from 1881 with his jockey on his back. IN 1882 Foxall was sent to Europe to win the Grand Prix de Paris. James R. Keene in 1881, his horse Foxhall, named for his son, became the first American horse to win the Grand Prix de Paris, then the most important race in France. The following year Foxhall won England's Ascot Gold Cup. The historic challenge of adding victory in the £160,000 totesport.com Cesarewitch to success in the totesport.com Cambridgeshire was last achieved in 1885 when Plaisanterie won both contests. Only Roseberry (1876) and Foxhall (1881) have also completed the double. The Ascot Gold Cup at Ascot Heath, England was won by Foxhall June 8, 1882. Foxhall only appeared twice in 1882 as a four year old.
