The Women of France This is supposed to be the first poster printed that shows women working. Women were previously shown in female rolls. We owe them houses of cheer. United War Work Campaign. This WWI poster shows women working in a foundry. In the foreground one woman has a molten ingot in tongs and another is withdrawing an ingot from the furnace, while a third is plunging an ingot into a container of water. (An ingot is a mass of metal ready for casting and molding). Rawls pg 164, Hardie & Sabin 68. This is an Original Vintage Poster; it is not a reproduction.
