The rooster is an important element in Japanese mythology and Shinto religion. The rooster is usually associated with the sun and solar Japanese deities, which makes it the perfect image for a poster promoting Japan, the Land of the Rising Sun. In recognition of the rooster's bravery during this time of despair, this Japanese bird is symbolic of courage throughout Japan. Due to their relation with the goddess Amaterasu, roosters are regarded as sacred birds, permitted to roam freely around Shinto temples. Qantas Airways (Queensland and Northern Territory Aerial Services) is the most popular airline in Australia, nicknamed The Flying Kangaroo. Founded in 1920, it is the third oldest airline in the world after KLM and Avianca. This is an Original Lithograph Vintage Poster; it is not a reproduction. This poster is conservation mounted, linen backed, and in excellent condition.|
