This is a rare and interesting piece for both it's age and condition. What is intriguing about this poster is that in the background of this piece is the shadow of The Minuteman, which was used quite frequently in posters produced during the first two years of WWII. This war bond piece as it was termed was produced by the U.S. Government Printing Office: 1942--0-488198. It features the words at the top: A confident woman sets out with conviction to buy war bonds in this 1942 WWII public service propaganda poster entitled, "She's Ready, Too! "Buy War Bonds". As the woman walks, she leaves behind the shadow of soldier. The imagery directly relates the service of the soldier on the battlefield to the patriotism of the consumer at home through purchasing the war bond. Series E Bonds were issued beginning in 1941 and transitioned to War Bonds in 1942 with American entry into the World War II. The purpose of the bonds were to encourage American investment and to raise money to finance the war effort. There were 8 Loan Drives from 1942-1945. This poster most likely supported the first loan drive, which lasted from November 30 through December 23, 1942. The initial goal was $9 billion, however the drive raised $13 billion, which translates to $188.3 billion today adjusting for inflation. This is an Original Vintage Poster; it is not a reproduction. She's Ready, Too and at the bottom it reads: BUY WAR BONDS
