He conducted the "true color" survey of the Lascaux Cave for the CNRS before it closed to the public. He captured aerial views of the French landscape for the Aerial Atlas of France. In 1958, he developed the device for identifying winning horses at the finish line, the "photo-finish," which has since been used on most racecourses.
