The Zeppelin Eckener Fund of the German People was a fundraising initiative led by Hugo Eckener of the Zeppelin Company to finance a new passenger zeppelin. The opening ceremony was held in Friedrichshafen, Germany on August 20, 1925 as part of the jubilee celebration of the 25th anniversary of the first zeppelin. Money was raised through collection boxes and the sale of postcards, coins, unofficial stamps, and other trinkets and memorabilia. After the destruction of World War I, Eckener keenly realized that he could revive German morale with this cause. Though the campaign did not reach its fiscal goal, the Zeppelin Company allocated enough funds to finance the construction—and the effort provided a brief but much needed dose of national morale to the Germans. Printer: M. Grunst, München On 20 August 1925, Dr. Eckener launched the Zeppelin-Eckener-Spende des Deutschen Volkes (Zeppelin-Eckener Fund of the German People) campaign. This is an Original Lithograph Vintage Poster; it is not a reproduction. This poster is professional acid-free conservation mounted and in very good condition.|
