Edward Penfield (1866-1925) was the art editor of Harper's New Monthly Magazine for nearly a decade. This example of the artist's work features an illustration for Caspar Whitney's article for Harper's "On Snow Shoes to the Barren Grounds." Penfield was a great and prolific illustrator in the beginning of this century. Please note that this is one of the rare magazine posters and is not a magazine cover.
