Additional Information: Original French 'cartone' for PHARAMOND TRIPES & PATES with an advertising imprint for a Parisian restaurant. The smaller format posters put onto thin cardboard backing were hung from a string inside restaurants or stores to promote a product and were meant to last a longer period of time. The Pharamond family, of Norman origin, arrived in Paris in 1832, settling in the neighborhood of the great Parisian food market of Les Halles (still known as "the womb of Paris" thanks to the homonymous novel of 1873 by Émile Zola). In 1879 Alexandre Pharamond, to whom the dish is dedicated, opened the restaurant " This is a rare original Pharamond cartone.
