Cupid Riding a Dolphin Original exhibition poster done in 1937 for an exposition by Rubens. The image in the poster is taken from the 1636 oil on wood (14.5 x 13.5 cm) and the art is housed in Musées Royaux des Beaux-Arts, Brussels. In it Cupid is guiding by the bridle a dolphin that is slicing through the sea. In his right hand he carries a bow, on his back a quiver of arrows, illustrating a passage from the Latin poet Ovid's Metamorphoses where the little god of love is preparing to unleash arrows in order to conquer hearts for Venus, and symbolizing the impatience of love.
