John Alvin

John Alvin (1948-2008)
John Alvin was an American illustrator and graduate of the Art Center College of Design.  Alvin is credited for designing posters and key art for over 135 films.  His first poster was in 1974 for Mel Brooks’ Blazing Saddles.  He went on to create posters for other Brooks films including Young Frankenstein and he became the “go to” guy for many directors.  He created some of the most iconic posters of all time - Blade Runner, E.T. The Extra-Terrestrial, Gremlins, Alien, Harry Potter, Lord of the Rings, Pirates of the Caribbean. He also designed posters for many of the modern Disney films including The Lion King, Beauty and the Beast and Aladdin. He also created the Star Wars Concert and Star Wars Tenth Anniversary posters for Lucas Film which remains highly collectible today.
