The James Bond series of films are the longest continually running and the 6th-highest grossing film franchise to date. The first film in the series began in 1962 with Dr. No, starring Sean Connery as Bond. To date there have been 25 (including No Time to Die due for release later this year) official films in the series and 2 independent productions of Bond films: Casino Royale (a spoof 1967) and Never Say Never Again (a 1983 remake of an earlier Bond film, Thunderball) making a total of 27 Bond films in all. Seven actors have portrayed Bond in the official films, Sean Connery, David Niven, George Lazenby, Roger Moore, Timothy Dalton, Pierce Brosnan and Daniel Craig.
