Night of Rock Photography in Hollywood

by Pierre Vudrag on Sunday, April 27, 2014

Limited Runs hosted a rock ’n’ roll-themed photo exhibition comprising 28 images from three of the genre’s most prolific photographers: Neil ZlozowerStephen Stickler and Sean Murphy.  The exhibit was part of the sixth annual Month of Photography Los Angeles (MOPLA) closing night party this past Friday at Boulevard3 in Hollywood.

Zlozower, began shooting professionally in the late 1960s, kick-starting his career photographing diverse acts such as the Rolling Stones and The Jackson 5, to Van Halen, Guns ‘N’ Roses and Mötley Crüe.  Stickler and Murphy, both of whom documented the music scene starting in the early ’90s through today. Stickler photographing artists ranging from Moby to Stevie Ray Vaughan, and Murphy has worked with a wide range of musicians from newly signed upstart Kid Rock to British rocker PJ Harvey.

The exhibit on Friday presented a history of rock ‘n’ roll from the early 70’s with the likes of David Bowie, Mick Jagger and Tom Petty through today with Green Day, Dave Grohl, Pink and Jay-Z.

This exhibit, Limited Runs’ first, gave the viewer a broad spectrum of life as a musician, from performing on stage to intimate portraits of life at home. The exhibit will expand and move to New York City in October and then travel to other cities such as Las Vegas and Chicago.
