Photographs of John Lennon by May Pang

by Todd Klick on Wednesday, April 1, 2015

Internet vintage poster and art dealer, Limited Runs (www.limitedruns.com), is pleased to announce the release of little-seen John Lennon images photographed by his companion and confidante, May Pang. Pang’s color and black & white photographs, taken during her and Lennon’s 1973-74 relationship (known as the “Lost Weekend”), show an everyday side of John Lennon—the way he really was.

Pang’s intimate vantage point we see: John peering through his legs during a Palm Springs’ vacation; relaxing on the grass with his friend, singer Harry Nilsson; admiring a Harley-Davidson motorcycle in the Mohave Desert; and John playfully composing a shot with a camera at Lou Adler’s Bel Air mansion.

Also included are pictures Pang took during their time in New York City either in their apartment at 434 East 52nd Street or weekend trip: Lennon walking dogs on a fall day in Woodstock; vacationing with his young son Julian aboard a boat on the Long Island Sound; and a visit with former bandmate, Ringo Starr.

John Lennon, born on October 9, 1940, in Liverpool, England, would have been 75 this year.  As the founding member of the Beatles, Lennon’s enduring legacy makes him one of the most popular musicians of our time as new generations of listeners discover his music, films, art and poetry.
