Collector’s Corner: Italian Movie Posters

by Pierre Vudrag on Wednesday, October 1, 2014

With fantastic artists such as Luigi Martinati, Angelo CesselonAnselmo Ballester or Michelangelo Antonioni, each with an eye for exquiste detail, bold colors and a freshness rarely seen in the last forty years, Italy produced some of the finest movie posters during and after the second world war through to the late 60’s and beyond.  Known throughout Europe but generally remain relatively obscure in the United States except to hardcore film fans or posters collectors. But this is starting to change as many studios are discovering the art and using it as the cover art for many Blu-Ray releases and other promotional materials.  When these rare Italian posters come up for auction, they usual command high prices, as many collectors bid on these beautiful images.  Limited Runs has many of these classic posters available including the largest format of the Italian film posters, known as the 2-Folio (39″ x 55″) or 4-Folio (55″ x 78″), including these next few posters.  For a link to our entire collection click on the link below.
