Additional Information: Original WW1 poster: Beat Back the Hun with Liberty Bonds. Artist F. Strothmann. Original World War 1 antique vintage poster; archival linen backed and ready to frame. In very good condition. Size 20" x 30" Linen backed; original. Original fold marks restored. Depicted: Purple German soldier (possessing a spiked helmet, bloody fingers and green eyes) looming on the horizon over smoking ruins; the sky is yellow-orange. Publicity (part of the war propaganda effort) in a nation-wide contest, it was one of nine designs originally selected for the bond drive. “Beat back the Hun with Liberty Bonds” played on the fear of a German invasion by depicting menacing German soldier, clutching a bayonet with bloody hands, looming over the Atlantic Ocean and peering over a crumbling cityscape as smoke wafts from the ruins. This Beat Back the Hun is an Original Lithograph Vintage Poster; it is not a reproduction. This poster is conservation mounted, linen backed, and in excellent condition.
