A short distance distance west of Venice, Italy sits the charming city of Vicenza, rich with history, culture, and elegant buildings. It was home to famed 16th century architect Andrea Palladio, whose work can be seen on this enchanting early 20th century travel poster. The focal point of this lovely piece is the Basilica Palladiana, with its stately clock tower, and surrounded by the Piazza dei Signori. Although the poster was made in the late 1920s-early 1930s, artist Tullio Silvestri has placed a regally dressed couple from a much earlier period in the foreground, taking hopeful travelers back in time. The poster was one of a series produced by the Italian Tourist Bureau (ENIT) often in cooperation with the Italian State Railway System (FS). This "City of Palladio" was named a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1994. Ref: Travel Italia p. 59, Manifesta 91, Bolaffi p. 207. This is an Original Lithograph Vintage Poster; it is not a reproduction. This poster is professional acid-free conservation mounted, linen backed, and presents itself in very good condition. (note that the boarders have been restored; but are perfect now.) #italy_vacations #italy?? #travelblogger
