|Additional Information:|| Original color lithographic poster, This is an original vintage British rail poster published by the London Midland Scotland Railway (LMS) in the early 1930s and encourages travel to The Matlocks. The poster by the English artist George Ayling features the white limestone face of High Tor rising above the River Derwent. Once famous for its warm springs and health spa, the area is now popular for walking and climbing, and as the poster claims, for a restful holiday.
This is a wonderful example of Ayling's work as a posterist and is unique for his color choices -- pale green that shifts to olive and contrasted with deep violets and blue highlights. This poster can be the perfect accent in a modern decor while simultaneously adding a historical note.
