The last time we have been able to document the availability of this poster was at Poster Auction Internation, LIV,362 Sep 8, 2011;' where the poster was pulled prior to the auction. "The Chicago South Shore and South Bend Railroad, otherwise knows as the South Shore Line is on of the great sagas in the history of the Hoosie State during the 1920's. Later known as "The Little Trains that Could," the South Shore Line continues today as an essential transporation system, linking thousnads of Hoosier wit their liveihoods in downtown Chicago " reference: 1924 These fun-in-the-sun posters were placed along the route, especially the Dunes and the Dunes State Park. They were exhibited in stations on the "L" platforms in Chicago. The series of posters covered topis such as the four seasons, special events, destinations, Christmas, or general romantic view of northern Indiana. It is estimated that the railroad produced a poster monthly basis between 1925 and 1929. (Moonlight in the Duneland book 1998.) The model for this poster named Audrey, a model and a dancer during the 1920's Audrey modeled on Lake Michigan beach in 1925 for Hazel Brown Urgelles, producing a likeness in the painting used for this rare famous poster. Aubrey earned $25. for her session.|
