Additional Information: Original HOUSTON Continental Airlines vintage travel poster. Size: 25" x 40": American travel poster that features the oil derricks and refineries and port of Houston. Today a very difficult to find as an original Continental Airlines poster. Professional acid-free archival linen backed ready to frame. Very good to excellent condition. While undated, this poster was clearly designed well before oil and gas companies became associated with greenhouse gas emissions. We're presented with a minimally abstract view of the Port of Houston, which boasts a petrochemical complex that is one of the largest in the world. The private and public transit hub was initially celebrated for its technological feats, but today it must take measures to revert its contributions to climate change. Headquartered in Houston, Continental Airlines was founded in 1934 and closed operations in 2012. Antique posters are 'pictures of persuasion,' as we might call them, offer a wealth of art, history, design, and popular culture for us to understand. The poster is a familiar part of our world, and we intuitively understand its role as propaganda, promotion, announcement, or advertisement." This is an Original Lithograph Vintage Poster; it is not a reproduction. This poster is professional acid-free conservation mounted, linen backed, and in very good condition. (please note that standard excellent condition allows for very minor handling wear at edges).
