An original French travel poster created to promote travel to Normandie and Deauville beach areas which is only a short trip from Paris. Bright and fun uplifting image of people under umbrellas on the beach enjoy drinks and foot at the "Le Bar du Soleil". Of course, it is the bar of the sun!. The classic mystique of the French waterfront also gives Normandie: Deauville, Le Bar du Soleil by Kees van Dongen its allure, where a rich sky contrasts the bright light on the beach, inspiring that familiar sensation of romance Excellent condition. Not trimmed. This original vintage French poster portrays Le Bar du Soleil in Deauville, Normandy. It was painted by the noted artist Kees Van Dongen (1877-1968), an affluent intimate of Gris, Braque, and Picasso, who often entertained his famed Spanish friend at home (his daughter Dolly called Picasso “Tablo”). Van Dongen was called "le peintre temoin de son temps" by E. Benezit in Dictionnaire des Peintres, 1976, vol. 3, p. 629. This was the only poster of his work ever produced, and by definition is a rarity.|
