Rare poster. Visit Petra (Mallorca), the 1940s Spanish travel poster ("Birthplace of Fray Junipero Serra the Founder of California") promoting tourism to the city in Majorca, Spain, featuring art of friar Serra holding a crucifix and a bag of wheat by Pedro J. Barreto! Note that Friar Serra was famous for founding a mission in Baja, California and several other Spanish missions in California in the 1700s (and he was even canonized [declared a saint] by Pope Francis in 2015). In the poster there is a spot light that shines from the Island of Mallorca and high lights the State of California. The background is the world map. There is a street in San Juan Capistrano leading to the early mission named for him. This is an Original Lithograph Vintage Poster; it is not a reproduction.
