|Additional Information:||Original linen backed 1927 stone lithograph for the FOIRE de GRAY. In the background in the city of Gray is shown the Chateau de Joux and the Cluse Mijoux. The castle started construction back in 1034; over 10 centuries ago. Gray was one of the first river posters of France. Gray was founded in the 7th century. Its fortifications were destroyed by Louis XIV. During the Franco-German War A "low" town on the banks of the river, the Saône, and a "high" town formed of a castle town on the dominant plateau, took a further boom since the thirteenth century, the whole city being fortified and has a university while trade is encouraged.|
