With lime green background, dark grey hippos and a red and white striped barge, the poster was designed by Stan Galli, United Airlines signature poster artist for close to 30 years. At the time United Airlines called itself the airline to Disneyland. Stan Galli for a United Air Lines Travel Poster. Galli, a noted and popular Illustration and advertising artist, was flown to the Disney Studio in the 1960s to meet Walt Disney and present him with ideas for a travel poster for United Air Lines. Disney suggested that Galli tour the park to get a feel and understanding of Walt's vision. After the tour, Galli came up with the idea of combining two memorable images of the park, the exotic "Jungle Cruise" attraction and the elegant "Sleeping Beauty Castle". This study painting was presented to the studio and, after a few alterations to clothing and the positioning of the castle, the final artwork was realized.
