Additional Information: Original Abbaye de Jumieges; Chemins de Fer de L'Etat antique vintage French travel poster. The poster indicates that you travel to this location from Rouen by car to see the antique abbey ruins. Acid-free archival linen backed in excellent condition; ready to frame. Location site: in Normandy, along the loop of the Seine between Rouen and Le Havre (Seine-Maritime 76). And more precisely in the small village of Jumièges, rue Guillaume-le-Conquérant. The Jumièges Abbey was founded on gifted land in 654. and was pillaged and burnt to the ground by the Vikings in the ninth century. It was rebuilt in 942 to a larger grand scale. The new church was consecrated in 1067 in the presence of William the Conqueror. The Abbey was a great religious and learning center and was at its highest fame in the 11th century. The church was enlarged again in 1256 and then again restored in 1573. This ABBAYE DE JUMIEGES is an Original Lithograph Vintage Poster; it is not a reproduction.
