|Additional Information:|| Original lithograph printed in colors, Jules Cheret created the Maitres de l'Affiche collection, a significant art publication of smaller sized reproductions featuring the best work of ninety-seven Parisian artists. His success inspired an industry that saw the emergence of a new generation of poster designers and painters such as Charles Gesmar and Henri de Toulouse-Laurtrec.
La Bodiniere was the exhibition hall of the Theâtre d'application, offering a variety of attractions from art exhibits to shadow plays - one of which is being advertised here. The bottom right quarter of the poster was left blank to insert the program of the week. The attraction listed for this week's shadow play reads, "The March in the Sunshine". The main attraction, however, is the charming and elegant lady in yellow.
