|Additional Information:|| Lithograph printed in colors, References: Rennert/Weill 27, DFP 633, In this original 1897 poster for Bieres de la Meuse, Alphonse Mucha captures a contemplative figure, her stein brimming with foam. The Art Nouveau elements are unmistakable. The alluring woman's long flowing tresses showcase a wreath featuring brilliant red poppies, golden sheaths of wheat, and fresh green hops, all the makings for an unforgettable beer. The poster's elegance and lightness creates an image of a noble beer.
At the bottom of the poster are two vignettes by another artist. Pictured is the goddess of the river Meuse and below, a bird's eye view of the brewery in Bar-le-Duc. At this time, la Meuse was one of the largest remaining breweries in the area that enjoyed a rich history as a brewing center.
Perhaps the most beautiful poster ever created for a beer, demonstrating, once again, the remarkable style of Alphonse Mucha.
