Additional Information: MURAD, The Turkish Cigarette. Original early cigarette advertisement, circa 1915. Archival linen backed and ready to frame. Excellent condition. This version of Murad features an exotic bird standing on a package of the cigarettes making it part of the nest. Murad was taken from the name used by five sultans of the Ottoman Empire. They had reigned at various times from 1319 to 1876, the last, Murad V, ruled for but a brief three-month period. Murad was but one of dozens o£ new brands of cigarettes to be sold in this country shortly after the turn of the last century. They offered something new and were so well received that almost all of the older brands were driven out of business. The new element? I Turkish tobacco leaves. This MURAD The Turkish Cigarette is an Original Vintage cigarette ad; it is not a reproduction. This poster is conservation mounted, linen backed to preserve and protect the poster, and in excellent condition.
