Additional Information: Original color lithographic poster, References: Peigno pg 14, Calvet/Thibault pg 43 var, This 1950 airline poster by Lucien Boucher features an Air France Constellation in flight, approaching South America. In the clouds, a large wing which mirrors the shape of South American continent is used to display Air France's flying seahorse logo suggesting Air France's dominance in South America.

Boucher designed many posters for Air France including a number of their world network maps, and in this poster we can readily see his mapmaking talent. If you look closely, it is a wonderful pictorial map of South America highlighting its natural wonders; the Amazon River surrounded by the rain forests, the Andes, the coastal plains, and white beaches. Argentina's capital city of Buenos Aries is colorfully depicted with the National Congress building and the Teatro Colin clearly identified in the skyline. And just up the coast is Brazil's Rio de Janeiro with its distinctive Sugar Loaf Mountain and Teatro Municipal. Makes you just want to jump into that plane!

This is the larger, harder to find version of the poster.
