{"id":8061,"date":"2016-08-16T18:09:42","date_gmt":"2016-08-16T18:09:42","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.limitedruns.com\/blog\/?p=8061"},"modified":"2017-02-11T14:12:06","modified_gmt":"2017-02-11T14:12:06","slug":"guillermo-del-toro-at-home-with-monsters","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.limitedruns.com\/blog\/advertising\/guillermo-del-toro-at-home-with-monsters\/","title":{"rendered":"Guillermo del Toro: At Home with Monsters<br \/>On View Los Angeles County Museum of Art (LACMA)"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a title=\"Guillermo del Toro: At Home with Monsters\" href=\"https:\/\/www.limitedruns.com\/original\/advertising-posters\/exhibition-festival\/guillermo-del-toro-at-home-with-monsters-exhibition-poster\/\" target=\"_blank\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignleft size-medium wp-image-8090\" title=\"Guillermo Del Toro Exhibit\" src=\"http:\/\/www.limitedruns.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/08\/Guillermo-Del-Toro-Exhibit1-235x300.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"235\" height=\"300\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.limitedruns.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/08\/Guillermo-Del-Toro-Exhibit1-235x300.jpg 235w, https:\/\/www.limitedruns.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/08\/Guillermo-Del-Toro-Exhibit1.jpg 452w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 235px) 100vw, 235px\" \/><\/a>I had the opportunity to catch the new <em>Guillermo del Toro: At Home with Monsters<\/em> exhibit at the\u00a0Los Angeles County Museum of Art (LACMA)\u00a0<span style=\"line-height: 24px;\">the filmmaker\u2019s first museum retrospective. \u00a0The exhibit includes\u00a0<a title=\"Guillermo del Toro\" href=\"https:\/\/www.limitedruns.com\/search\/?keywords=Guillermo+del+Toro&amp;view=image&amp;page=1&amp;sorting=alpha\" target=\"_blank\"><strong>Guillermo\u00a0del Toro<\/strong><\/a>&#8216;s personal\u00a0collection of paintings, drawings, maquettes, artifacts, and concept film art as well as\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"line-height: 24px;\">extensive elements from the\u00a0filmmakers career\u00a0beginning with Cronos (1993) and continuing through <strong><a title=\"The Devil's Backbone\" href=\"https:\/\/www.limitedruns.com\/original\/movie-posters\/thriller\/devils-backbone\/\" target=\"_blank\">The Devil\u2019s Backbone<\/a>\u00a0<\/strong>(2001), <a title=\"HELLBOY\" href=\"https:\/\/www.limitedruns.com\/search\/?keywords=Hellboy&amp;view=image&amp;page=1&amp;sorting=alpha\" target=\"_blank\"><strong>Hellboy<\/strong> <\/a>(2004), <a title=\"PAN'S LABYRINTH\" href=\"https:\/\/www.limitedruns.com\/original\/movie-posters\/fantasy\/pan-s-labyrinth\/\" target=\"_blank\"><strong>Pan\u2019s Labyrinth<\/strong><\/a> (2006), Pacific Rim (2013), and Crimson Peak (2015), among many other film, television, and book projects. \u00a0The exhibit is a f<\/span><span style=\"line-height: 24px;\">ascinating insight into\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"line-height: 24px;\">del\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"line-height: 24px;\">Toro\u2019s creative process by bringing together elements from his films, objects from his vast\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"line-height: 24px;\">personal collections, drawings from his notebooks, and a\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"line-height: 24px;\">diverse range of media\u2014including sculpture,\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"line-height: 24px;\">paintings, prints, photography, costumes, ancient artifacts, books, maquettes, and film\u2014<\/span><span style=\"line-height: 24px;\">totals approximately 500 objects and reflects the broad scope of del Toro\u2019s inspirations.<\/span><\/p>\n<h1><a href=\"http:\/\/www.limitedruns.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/08\/Pale-Man.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignright size-medium wp-image-8095\" title=\"Pale Man\" src=\"http:\/\/www.limitedruns.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/08\/Pale-Man-300x170.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"170\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.limitedruns.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/08\/Pale-Man-300x170.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.limitedruns.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/08\/Pale-Man.jpg 360w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a><\/h1>\n<h2><em>\u201cTo find beauty in the profane.
