Vinson\" href=\"http:\/\/www.limitedruns.com\/original\/print-art\/political-art\/ralph-n-vinson-original-political-art-richard-m-nixon-watergate-mess-how-do-you-turn-this-thing-off\/\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignleft size-full wp-image-6829\" title=\"Richard Nixon Water Gate Mess\" src=\"http:\/\/www.limitedruns.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/02\/Richard-Nixon-Water-Gate-Mess1.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"477\" height=\"576\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.limitedruns.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/02\/Richard-Nixon-Water-Gate-Mess1.jpg 477w, https:\/\/www.limitedruns.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/02\/Richard-Nixon-Water-Gate-Mess1-248x300.jpg 248w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 477px) 100vw, 477px\" \/><\/a>From our infancy, political art was used to spread propaganda and news about the fight to gain American independence from\u00a0British rules.\u00a0 Political art continued to be used to cover all news including the many dark stains in American political life such as slavery, the Civil War through Jim Crow, World Wars through the Cold-War, and the Witch Hunts of the McCarty Era in the 1950s, leading into the most turbulent period of political and social unrest, the 1960s. \u00a0Jumping from crisis to crisis, many of which are still impacting American politics today, from the Cuba Missile Crisis, civil rights, student riots and subsequent killings of unarmed student protesters by the National Guard at Kent State University, the assassinations of president John F. Vinson, covered many national and local issues working for the New Orleans\u00a0<em>States-Item<\/em>\u00a0during the late sixties through the mid-seventies.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h1 style=\"text-align: right;\"><strong><em style=\"font-size: 0.75em; text-align: right;\"><a title=\"Earth Week 1971 Original Political Art\" href=\"http:\/\/www.limitedruns.com\/original\/print-art\/political-art\/ralph-n-vinson-original-political-art-earth-week\/\">Earth Week 1971<\/a> Original Political Art<br \/>\n<\/em><\/strong><\/h1>\n<h4 style=\"text-align: right;\"><strong><em style=\"font-size: 0.75em; text-align: right;\">created by Vinson, caption reads (in pencil at top of drawing): This Is &#8216;Earth Week&#8217;! \u00a0&#8212;\u00a0<\/em><em style=\"font-size: 0.75em;\">We come Into The World With Nothing And We Go Out With Nothing &#8230; But Just Look What We Leave Behind! &#8212;\u00a0<\/em><\/strong><em style=\"font-size: 0.83em; font-weight: normal;\"><strong>Published on Tuesday, April 20, 1971 in the New Orleans States-Item<\/strong>.<\/em><\/h4>\n<p>Original pen and ink political cartoons created by Vinson during the period of 1968 through 1974 were recently discovered and provide a glimpse into the national issues of the period, from environmental crisis, political campaigns, Supreme Court rulings, Mid-East peace crisis and Watergate and subsequent cover-up by President Richard M. Nixon and the eventual pardon by former Nixon Vice President and then current U.S. President Gerald Ford.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><a title=\"Richard M.
